A couple of weeks ago I built three handmade journals with a kit from Ruby Dog Art House. The supply kit of mixed papers and binding materials was a gift from my godmother, who is a paper and fabric artist. I have had the kit in my studio closet for a quite a while, but finally found the time and space to tackle the production. The most difficult part of binding was to keep smaller pages, in the centre of the journal, from sliding out of alignment with the holes of the other pages. I used straight pins through cardboard to keeps pages together while stacking them. These spiral bound notebooks are now being pressed into action as daily gratitude journals. I record a minimum of 5 things that I am grateful for in my new journal every night before bed.
